Not So Happy: Pharrell sends Cease and Desist to Trump

Pharrell Williams wants President Donald Trump to stop using “Happy” sing after the president used it a rally on the same day 11 people were killed in a Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.

Pharell’s lawyer Howard King wrote in part:

On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played his song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana,” “There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose.

After this rally incident, it appears Pharell will not allow Trump to use any of his music under any circumstances.  King went on to say:

“Pharrell has not, and will not, grant you permission to publicly perform or otherwise broadcast or disseminate any of his music,” King wrote. “The use of ‘Happy’ without permission constitutes copyright infringement.”

Yikes! President Trump seems to keep burning bridges.  And without Pharell express oral or written permission he will not be allowed to use any of Pharrell’s music for the foreseeable future.  Need copyright protection on your works?  Click “Hire CLG” in the menu to get your copyright filed today by a professional attorney.
