Trey Songz surrenders to LAPD

Singer Trey Songz turned himself in at the LAPD last Monday. He is facing felony domestic violence charges. According to his accuser, Andrea Buera, Songz was upset that she was speaking to another man at an event during NBA All-Star weekend. Buera alleges the singer beat her to the point that she suffered a concussion and had to go to the hospital for treatment. She states that witnesses were around to corroborate her story.

Songz denies the allegations and was released on $50,000 bail. In California felony crimes are defined as any crime that is punishable by a prison sentence or by the death penalty. Domestic violence crimes in California can be charged as a misdemeanor but certain circumstances may warrant a felony charge. If convicted the R&B singer can face anywhere between one year in county jail to four years in California State prison.
