STUNT OR REALITY?

Rapper, Kanye West announced his 2020 presidential bid via Twitter on Saturday.

Ever since the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, West has been speaking about running for president. However, some say this is just another promotional stunt. West currently has a new single out and reportedly has a new album in the works.

It is unclear as to whether West is really running as he has not yet filed his name with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the upcoming November election. He also has not specified if he will be associated with a particular political party.

Due to the quickly approaching election, West would likely need to run as an independent candidate; however, to do this, he would need to get a certain number of signatures and register in states. Although the deadline for this has already passed in some major states, he would still have time to file in many others.

Regardless of whether this is legitimate or another promotional stunt, he has already been endorsed by Elon Musk and his wife, Kim Kardashian West.
