Cannon Shot Out.

As racial tension flairs throughout the country, seemingly sparked by the death of George Floyd, there is a rise of intolerance in regard to any type racism. Companies have fired many individuals who were caught online making racist remarks, and celebrity Nick Cannon was not spared this treatment.

Nick Cannon the actor and TV host known for his roles in movies like “Drumline”, and hosting shows such as ‘America’s Got Talent’, ‘The Masked Singer’ and ‘Wild N’ Out’ is drumming up some problems. Nick has a podcast called ‘Cannon’s Class”, where he and invited guests delve into discussions, a lot of the time which involve racial history. This was the case on an episode released June 30 when Cannon interviewed Professor Griff, a rapper from the group Public Enemy. Cannon made statements like “Black people are the true Hebrews” and while explaining the origins of racism, described white persons as ‘barbaric’ and ‘savage’.

Earlier this week, Viacom CBS who owns the networks: BET, MTV and VH1 released a statement announcing that they were terminating their relationship with Cannon due those statements. The company states that the episode promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Initially, he apologized to the Jewish community but now, Cannon is calling for an apology to him from Viacom and is also demanding they give him legal ownership of the popular show Wild N’ Out, which he created.

Do you think he should have been terminated?
