PRIVACY: Chris Brown And Sony Sued For Copyright Infringement

PRIVACY. Chris Brown and Sony Music get sued for copyright infringement over his 2017 song “Privacy.”

Greensleeves Publishing Company is suing Chris Brown, Sony Music, and the entity Chris Brown TV for copyright infringement. Company is accusing Brown of stealing pieces of artist Red Rat’s 1997 song “Tight Up Skirt.” In its legal filing to the court Company alleges claims that it “owns and administers exclusive music publishing rights in the United States” for “Tight Up Skirt.” Furthermore, Brown’s song Privacy “took the core musical feature” of the song and used it “without permission.”

Publishing Company is seeking monetary damages and permanent injunctive relief.

Should Chris Brown be barred from selling or promoting anything related to the copyrighted material?
