BLOCKED: Mariah Carey’s new liquor brand “Black Irish” can’t be sold in Ireland or the EU.

A No No!

That is what Ireland and EU have said to the Grammy awarded singer. Mariah Carey’s new liquor Brand “Black Irish” is currently blocked from being sold in Ireland or the EU because an Irish liquor company already owns the trademark. The European Union’s Intellectual Property Office already has Black Irish on file under an Irish liquor brand Darker Still, they have owned the trademark since 2015 and don’t seem to be letting go any time soon.

Obviously, it is not up to Darker Still to decide but the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office still has to make a decision if the trademark will be approved. The trademark has been secured in the US, is currently being sold. Since she has filed later than Darker Still, Carey has a lesser right to the trademark, and it is currently in the air if the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office will approve it.

While it is a hope that all the ventures that Mariah does is successful it is very unclear if this one will be internationally. Here’s to wishing the best for Mariah and her new Irish cream liquor.

Are you going to try the new liquor?
