Judge Refuses to Quit and Meek’s bail DENIED again!

Since Meek Mill was sentenced in Nov. 2017, accusations of Judge Brinkley’s bias (as you recall she used to like him but after he allegedly wouldn’t give her a song shoutout she is refusing him bail after his recent parole violations) and the news that one of his arresting officers made the Philadelphia District Attorney’s list of corrupt police officers has made his bail request headlines once again.

On March 14, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office told the Associated Press that they were not opposed to releasing the rapper on bail and that there is a strong likelihood of his conviction “being reversed (in whole or in part).” Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf concurred, saying that the “criminal justice system is in need of repair” in a tweet supporting the prosecutors’ findings. Then on March 29, Brinkley denied the motion to have her recused from case.

Most recently on April 3, Brinkley denied Meek bail again. These are her reasons. First, she’s being a stickler on deadlines stating that Meek’s request needed to be filed a year after his original 2009 sentence became final. As you know, he didn’t file until 2018, but we’re confident Meek’s lawyers would use the defense they didn’t know about the police corruption scandal until this year. Second, Meek has already to admitted to gun and drug charges. Third, Meek didnin fact admit to violating his parole (the most blaring was the travel he did with Nicki Minaj to a award show without getting permission ans then posting it online for everyone to see…smh). Fourth, she feels just because other defendants have been released due to convictions based on dirty cop doesn’t mean Meek should. Last but not least, under the law post-sentencing bail should only be granted in “exceptional cases for compelling reasons.” The judge doesn’t think a dirty cop, makes this an exceptional case.

So there you have it, the Judge while appears to be very petty is making her decision within the parameters of the law.

That’s the thing about the law it is very exact. So no amount of support from the governor, Beyonce or Jay Z is going to change this judge’s mind.

Good Luck Meek!
