There is no end in sight. Cardi B continues to face legal troubles from Latasha K, a blogger. Cardi B’s legal troubles started when Latasha K claimed the rapper assaulted her. Not only did Latasha K claim Cardi B assaulted her, she also brought the FBI into the dispute.

The two began their issues with each other earlier this year when Latasha K claimed Cardi B was a drug abusing prostitute with an STD. This led Cardi B to sue Latasha K, then Latasha K countersued for slander; however, Latasha K has now amended her lawsuit to claim Cardi B  caused harm to her unborn child. The alleged harm is based on “violent messages” about her on social media. Latasha K was in the first trimester of a high-risk pregnancy during these events. The incidents involving Cardi B led Latasha to be on a mandatory bed rest.

To me, I do not see how mere words can harm Latasha’s unborn child, unless Latasha legitimately feared for her well-being, and this stress affected the baby in some way. If this was truly the scenario, then Latasha could have a legitimate claim for intentional infliction of emotional distress (“IIED”). The elements to prove a claim for IIED are: (1) the defendant must act intentionally or recklessly, (2) the defendant’s conduct must be severe and outrageous, (3) the conduct must be the cause (4) of severe emotional distress. Latasha had to move cities and received life threatening messages from Cardi B. Stay tuned to find out if Cardi B’s legal troubles will be actionable.
