MISLED: Nicki Minaj Fans Protest Vaccines at CDC HQ

Nicki fans are riding her baseless tweets on the vaccine hard!

Nicki Minaj supporters marched on the Atlanta HQ of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They protested under the belief that the pop star “told the truth” with her comments about COVID vaccines causing testicle swelling. These unsupported comments have proven far more manipulating than initially expected. Some of what was said included “Nicki told the truth to me! Fauci lied to me!”

The protestors’ movements last week are strongly supported by the First Amendment. Barring any violent outbreaks from members of the crowd or trespassing of private property, they are free to share their opinions held by rap-star. To prevent harmful misinformation, however, it is important that members of the community protest medical issues based in scientific facts. Despite the US government’s history of conducting inappropriate and invasive research studies, usually disproportionately with lower-income minority communities, people must formulate their opinions on vaccines based on multiple sources of legitimate scientific study and not exclusively from Nicki Minaj. The health minister in Trinidad and Tobago — where Minaj’s cousin’s friend lives — has complained that they “wasted so much time … chasing down the false claim”.

What do you think about Nicki’s comments on the COVID-19 vaccine?
