{"id":643,"date":"2018-04-26T15:58:28","date_gmt":"2018-04-26T20:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/?p=643"},"modified":"2018-04-26T15:58:28","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T20:58:28","slug":"simmons-accuser-drops-rape-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/home\/simmons-accuser-drops-rape-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Simmons Accuser Drops Rape Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"card collection-item\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p data-page=\"1\">A lawsuit accusing music and fashion mogul Russell Simmons of raping a documentary filmmaker in 2016 was dismissed Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p data-page=\"1\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 1.125rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">His accuser, Jennifer Jarosik, filed a $5 million dollar suit in January. Yesterday it was dismissed by agreement from Jarosik&#8217;s and Simmons&#8217; attorneys. No reason was given in the court filing for the agreement to dismiss the case &#8220;with prejudice,&#8221; meaning the suit can&#8217;t be filed again.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Simmons still faces a $10 million lawsuit filed last month in L.A. County Superior Court by a woman identified as &#8220;Jane Doe,&#8221; who alleged Simmons forced himself on her in his hotel room after a concert in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons has called the allegation &#8220;pure fiction&#8221; and an extortion attempt.<\/p>\n<p>These suits are amongst 12 accusations against Simmons and amongst hundreds against men in Hollywood which started with the #mettoo movement drag of mega Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lawsuit accusing music and fashion mogul Russell Simmons of raping a documentary filmmaker in 2016 was dismissed Wednesday.
