{"id":3562,"date":"2020-10-28T12:36:13","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T17:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/?p=3562"},"modified":"2020-10-28T14:48:58","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T19:48:58","slug":"justice-served-nxivm-founder-keith-raniere-seen-in-the-vow-will-spend-life-in-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/home\/justice-served-nxivm-founder-keith-raniere-seen-in-the-vow-will-spend-life-in-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"JUSTICE SERVED: NXIVM Founder Keith Raniere, Seen in &#8220;The Vow,&#8221; Will Spend Life in Prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Raniere has been stopped.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Raniere, a man best known as the founder of NXIVM was officially sentenced to 120 years, or life in prison on October 27<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>According to U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue, Raniere is revealed to have been a massive manipulator, con man, and the crime boss of a cult-like organization involved in sex trafficking, child pornography, extortion, compelled abortions, branding, degradation, and humiliation.\u00a0 His crimes have been discussed in documentaries, such as HBO\u2019s <em>The Vow\u00a0<\/em>and Starz\u2019s <em>Seduced<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/2450.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3563\" src=\"http:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/2450-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/2450-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/askcarterlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/2450.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>NXIVM was founded in the 1990s by Keith Raniere, alongside nurse and hypnotist Nancy Salzman.\u00a0 It was marketed as a self-help and improvement organization. \u00a0Raneire falsely told followers that he was a scientist and that he had created a unique self-help method that would help anyone achieve their personal and professional aspirations. \u00a0Participants were recruited through Executive Success Programs, which ran $10,000 five-day long retreats full of lectures and intense emotional probing.\u00a0 NXIVM claimed it could cure all, including disorders like Tourette&#8217;s Syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>The group amassed a high-profile clientele, including <em>Smallville<\/em>\u2019s Allison Mack, <em>Dynasty<\/em>\u2019s Catherine Oxenberg and her daughter, India, <em>Battlestar Galactica<\/em>\u2019s Nicki Clyne and Grace Park, and even the former president of Mexico, Emiliano Salinas.<\/p>\n<p>Edgar Bronfman Sr., the Seagram\u2019s liquor heir, also stated that his daughters funded NXIVM with their $150 million trust fund.\u00a0 Seagram\u2019s heiress, Clare Bronfman was a high-ranking member, who was so involved as to fund lawsuits against people who managed to leave NXIVM.\u00a0 She was sentenced to 81 months in prison after charges of concealing immigrants and ID fraud relating to NXIVM.<\/p>\n<p>NXIVM began to be questioned in the early 2000s as a cult and for being psychologically manipulative to its members.\u00a0 It also became questioned for a sector of the group ran by Raniere and actress Allison Mack.\u00a0This \u201cwomen empowerment\u201d sector involved Raniere grooming women for sexual relationships, extreme calorie counting, and giving up some sort of collateral to join, from personal secrets to nude photos.\u00a0 Women would also be branded with Raneire\u2019s initials prior to joining.\u00a0 Allison Mack has admitted to coercing a number of the members into these behaviors, and has been on house arrest. \u00a0She is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to sex trafficking and conspiracy charges,<\/p>\n<p>What kind of information did you ever hear about NXIVM? \u00a0Let us know what you think of this matter in the comments!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Raniere has been stopped.
