Many celebrities have spoken out about the case. The protest are likely to continue because no one has been charged for causing Ms. Taylor’s death.

In late September, the Kentucky Attorney General office announcement sparked a lot of outrage around the world. The Attorney General office announced that no charges were connected directly to Breonna Taylor’s death. The grand jury only returned with charges of wanton endangerment against one of the three officers who fired shots. However, the charge was connected to a family in a neighboring apartment. There was no mention of Breonna Taylor’s death which is absurd.

Wanton endangerment in the first degree is a Class D felony. A person is guilty of wanton endangerment in the first degree when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engages in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person. The officer plead not guilty. However, if the officer was found guilty he would face up to 15 years. Here, there appears to be no justice for Breonna Taylor. The court should have at least at a minimum found reckless homicide for Breonna Taylor. This is likely the reason Megan decided to use her platform as an artist to call out the Attorney General’s handling of the case.

Megan’s performance starts with an audio of activist, Malcolm X. Then there was an audio clip of activist, Tamika Mallory saying, “Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout Negroes that sold our people into slavery.” Meghan also spoke out saying “We need to protect our Black women and love our Black women because at the end of the day, we need our Black women,” Megan Thee Stallion said after the audio was played. “We need to protect our Black men and stand up for Black men because at the end of the day, we’re tired of seeing hashtags about Black men.”

Cameron appears to respond by reposting his quote that said, “There were a lot of people, inside and outside, a lot of celebrities, a lot of folks that either misrepresented the facts because it was to their advantage or didn’t know all the information. They made conclusions first and then wanted to cherry-pick the facts to meet those conclusions. I didn’t have that luxury as the Attorney General here in the commonwealth.” Cameron is claiming that the celebrities do not have the full facts and are drawing conclusions that are not true. What is true is that Breonna Taylor was gunned down while sleeping and not one officer has been charged for her death. The family received a record settlement of $12 million from the city against the Louisville Metro Police Department, but Breonna deserves so much more, she deserves justice.

What are your thoughts?
