Rapper and singer Doja Cat has recently come under intense fire as an old song of her making controversial remarks about police brutality has surfaced.<\/p>\n

Hashtags like #DojaCatIsOverParty and #OnlyKlans began trending on Twitter late last week, with many users calling out Doja for her 2015 song “Dindu Nuffin.” The title is a racist slur often used against black people who claim to be innocent after having faced police brutality. Some are also accusing her of making fun of the murder of Sandra Bland, a black woman who died while in police custody under suspicious circumstances in Texas in 2015, on the song. Also, footage began to circulate in which Doja can be seen making sexual comments and stripping off her clothes in video chat rooms for several alt-right, white men, while speaking negatively and making disparaging comments about her “black hair”.<\/p>\n

Doja Cat\u00a0issued a statement on Sunday night (May 24), addressing the resurfaced 2015 song with an offensive title. Doja, who is half black, said she regretted releasing the old track, saying it was “written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me.” She also defended herself after receiving backlash for associating with alt-right internet users, saying she never personally took part in “any racist conversations.”\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Late last night (May 25), Doja went live on Instagram to further apologize for her comments. She described the 2015 song as “lyrically lost” and “maybe the worst song in the entire world”, but insisted that it was in no way related to police brutality or Sandra Bland. However, some social media users have marked her apology as being “defensive” and “insincere”.<\/p>\n
