Cardi B Assault & Nicki Minaj Response

Last Friday, rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B were seen at the New York Fashion Week’s annual Harper’s Bazaar Icons party at the Plaza Hotel in New York City when Cardi B threw her shoe at Minaj.

Access Hollywood footage confirms that the shoe was thrown at 10:53pm and Cardi was immediately escorted out at 10:54pm. Minaj had no chance to get physically near Cardi as once speculated to tear her dress or leave the knot on her face. It appears all this happen as she was restrained by security.

Later, Cardi took to Instagram defending her actions saying it was because Minaj talked about her parenting skills. Minaj has since responded in the below video of her top rated Queen Radio show denying talking about her being a mom and has a witness on the call that says Cardi in fact has talked about her dead child (listen to the first hour):

Cardi’s shoe throwing may appear innocent enough but is actually a crime in New York.

Intentional Assault in the Third Degree (a misdemeanor) has two essential elements under New York Penal Law 120.00(1) case is that (1) you intended to inflict a physical injury and (2) you in fact did so. Since actually injury to Minaj is missing, it would have to be prosecuted as a lesser crime. Although lesser in terms of possible sentence, Attempted Assault in the Third Degree, New York Penal Law 110.120.00, is a “B” misdemeanor and a crime that will give you a permanent record for the public to see if there is a conviction. It doesn’t appear that Minaj or the police are pressing charges (no one was arrested) so it appears Cardi is dodging a bullet for now.

In the words of Rodney King, “Can we all just get along”?
