BATTLE. DMX’s fiancée was denied common law wife status during legal battle over his estate.

DMX’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom applied to the court to be legally declared his “common law wife,” but a judge has denied her request. Being declared his common law wife would have given Desiree move control over his current and future estate and his 14 children. The court stated she does “not have standing to file,” as a common law wife.

DMX died earlier this year following a drug overdose; he left no will and few liquid assets.Without a will, an estate must be set up to manage future earnings from DMX’S music. The first step in this legal battle is for a court to appoint administrators. His three adult sons from his marriage to Tashera Simmons are petitioning to be administrators.
