ROYAL BEHAVIOR: Meghan Markle Wins Legal Battle to Keep Friends’ Names Private

You’ve Got A Friend In Me.

Meghan Markle has won the right to protect the identity of five friends who were close to being revealed to the public in her ongoing court case against Associated Newspapers.

Associated Newspapers owns the British tabloid the Daily Mail who published excerpts from a personal letter the Duchess sent to her father in 2018. The parties are now in court over that publication, with Meghan suing for breach of privacy and copyright infringement.

Five friends of the Duchess anonymously spoke to People magazine to defend her character in 2019. According to Harpers Bazaar, she feels that revealing their identities only serves as an opportunity for clickbait and commercial gain. She feels such a revelation is vicious and a threat to her friends’ emotional and mental well-being. On Wednesday, August 5 Justice Warby granted Markle’s request to keep the identities of her friends private stating “That is confidential information, the protection of which is necessary in the interests of the administration of justice. This is an interim decision.”

Do you think the identities of her friends should be revealed?
