REALITY CHECK: Porsha Williams and Yandy Smith Arrested While Protesting for Breonna Taylor

No Justice. No Peach?

On March 13 Breonna Taylor was shot at least 8 times by police officers who were executing a no knock warrant. The call to bring the officers involved to justice has picked up momentum and gained national attention. Celebrities all over social media are bringing attention to the case on the daily, but some are showing up in person too, like reality stars Porsha Williams and Yandy Smith.

On Tuesday of this week, Porsha, from the Real Housewives of Atlanta and Yandy, from Love and Hip Hop, attended a protest where the group marched to Kentucky Attorney General, Daniel Cameron’s home to demand the arrest of the officers involved in the shooting. More than 100 protestors, organized by ‘Until Freedom’, a national social justice organization, were involved. Williams and Smith were subsequently arrested along with 85 other protestors outside of the Attorney General’s home. The charges were due to refusing to leave the property and included intimidating a participant in the legal process, second-degree disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal trespass. According to Williams arrest record, she was charged with all three.

Williams doesn’t seem to be too worried, however. The Georgia Peach posted a picture with Breonna Taylor’s mother after her release saying “It was my pleasure!”

Do you think the protest was helpful in this situation?
