Not so fast!

Former reality star Josh Duggar’s attempts to dodge child pornography charges were halted after a court hearing on September 28th. Josh and his wife Anna emerged smiling from a recent court hearing where their motions to suppress evidence and dismiss the ongoing child pornography case were denied.

Josh Duggar came to the spotlight on the  show “19 Kids and Counting”, which originally released in 2008 and chronicled the hectic lives of his parents, Jim and Michelle Duggar, and all of their children. Revelation of Josh’s molestation of five underage girls, including four of his sisters, from 2002-2003 led to the cancellation of the family’s reality show in 2015. On April 29, 2021, Duggar was arrested by U.S. Marshals on child pornography charges.

According to People.com, the motions denied were 1) a motion to suppress statements Duggar allegedly made to federal agents during the course of their investigation, 2) a motion to dismiss the case entirely on claims that investigators failed to “preserve potentially exculpatory evidence,” 3) a motion to suppress photographs of Duggar’s hands and feet taken while he was in custody, and 4) a motion to dismiss Duggar’s indictment because of technicalities over who was running the Department of Homeland Security at the time of their investigation. The fifth motion has not been ruled on by the Judge yet, but it is another motion to suppress evidence.

Josh is set to stand trial on November 30th, and according to a statement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Arkansas, Duggar could face up to 40 years and $500,000 in fines for the two counts if convicted.
